Biography

1924 Born in Edinburgh

1943 Studied at the Edinburgh College of Art.

1944 Studied at the Slade School of Art in London

1947-50 Worked in Paris.

1949-55 Taught design textile at the Central School of Art

1950-54 Worked on several architectural projects, including a fountain for the Festival of Britain in 1951 and one for a park in Hamburg in 1953

1955-58 Taught sculpture at St. Martin's School of Art

1960 Appointed visiting professor to advise on sculpture and basic design at Hamburg Hochscule, where he taught until 1962

1968-99 Lectures in Ceramics at the Royal College of Art, London
