Biography 1900-02 Studied at Leyton School of Art 1902-04 Worked as apprentice studio boy to the sculptor Sir William Reynolds-Stephens 1904-06 Painted in Cornwall 1906-10 Won a scholarship to study at Hospitalfield Art Institute, Arbroath, Scotland 1910-12 Continued his studies at City and Guilds School, London 1913-14 Shared a studio in Cornwall with the painter Cedric Morris 1914-18 Served in the Artists' Rifles 1920 exhibitied with Wyndham Lewis's Group X 1924 Elected President of the London Group. Represented Britain at the Venice Biennale and again in 1932 1926 Appointed Professor of Sculpture at Royal College of Art, London 1947 Awarded C.B.E. Awarded C.B.E. 1953 elected R.A.
