Jesse Dale Cast1900-1976Biography1900 Born in Fulham, London1914-17 Studied at the School of Building with the intention of becoming an interior decorator1917-20 Employed at the design studios of Maples, Harrods and H. & C. Davis. Attended life classes in the afternoon at St. Martin's School of Art and in the evenings at Camberwell School of Art and Crafts1922-26 Studied at Slade School of Fine Art under Professor Tonks1926-30 Took Sir John Mellor as a painting pupil. Lived abroad first in Bruges, Belgium and then in Soller, Majorca1940-45 Employed by the Ministry of Aircraft Production, first in Bristol, then in London1941 Married Vedwina George, daughter of Reverend Thomas George of Haverfordwest1944 Vedwina Cast killed by enemy action at Prince of Wales, Battersea, leaving one son, David. A large number of paintings was destroyed1945-50 Taught at Harrow School of Art, the Central School of Art & Design and Hornsey College of Art where he accepted a full-time appointment and remained for the rest of his teaching career1957 Elected a member of the Royal Society of Portrait Painters1976 Died at Tunbridge WellsAwards1920-22 Awarded Senior Scholarship by the L.C.C.1920-22 Studied full time at Camberwell School of Art and Crafts under Albert Rutherston.
